The news must be happy for football fans of Japan national team that the mighty squad has qualified 2018 FIFA World Cup Finals. Therefore, Adidas, as its supplier, has unveiled the new shirt for the team competing in 2018 World Cup.
The year of 2018 is a memorable year because Japan national team reached the finals of World Cup for the first time 20 years ago and it also did it in 2018. The new shirt combining innovative technologies and unique Japanese culture shows the team’s desire to achieve success in the future.
Japan football shirts are traditionally blue and white. Blue is associated with Japanese sky and ocean according to the Japan Football Association(JFA). The color of Japan Home Shirt 2018 is Samurai blue(Japanese traditional indigo), the nickname of Japan national team and a symbol of victory in Japanese culture.
Inspired by traditional Japanese kimono, the home shirt features a retro ribbed V-neck collar with red decoration which is from the national flag symbolizing Japan and success as well. The white lines of the shirt take inspiration from traditional craftsmanship Sashiko stitching technique. The white cotton thread on the traditional indigo blue cloth gives Sashiko its distinctive appearance. The federation badge and a small national flag lined in gold are, as always, embroidered on the chest. The bird with three legs is not only a mystical creature in Japanese culture but also the guide to 2018 World Cup, which reflects the wish to develop Japanese football and players’ spirit of challenge. A sun under one foot of the bird symbolizes Japan. Adidas three stripes are put on shoulders, back to the classic design.
The shorts and socks with “JAPAN” are all indigo. The well-designed home kit proudly pays homage to the team with lots of victories.
